*** Cleaning Fee for Dirty Tires *** Please note that the County of Simcoe will no longer be accepting residential or municipal loads of dirty tires free of charge at County Waste Management Facilities. Dirty tires will be charged a tipping fee of $230/tonne to pay for cleaning of the tires before they are shipped to the recycling plant. Dirty tires consist of tires that are contaminated with gravel, dirt and other organic matter. These tires are hard to deal with and pose several operational problems at the recycling plant. *** COUNTY ROAD 44 *** Please be advised that the County of Simcoe will be undertaking road improvements to County Road 44, from 1 km south of County Road 169 to Dock Road (3.0 km) from approximately April 8 to September 30, 2010. During the construction period the road will remain open, however traffic may be reduced to a single lane at times. Reduced speed limit signs will be posted and will be radar enforced. *** Building Canada Fund - Communities Component *** As part of the Building Canada Fund - Communities Component, the Township of Ramara is receiving funding from the provincial and federal governments for two reconstruction and paving projects. These projects are for "Airport Road and Bluebird Street” (#22948) and “Concession Road B and Sideroad 15” (#27597), as pictured below.

*** Great Refrigerator Roundup ***
The Great Refrigerator Roundup is a program designed to remove older, inefficient fridges and freezers from the electricity system. Generally, these appliances are located in basements or garages, are plugged in but rarely used, and they typically use two to three times more electricity than new appliances. The program offers to pick up older refrigerators and freezers as well as window air conditioners and dehumidifiers from residents of Ontario and fully decommission them in an environmentally friendly manner. You can call the Ontario Power Authority’s Customer Contact Centre at 1-877-797-9473. The call centre is open Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. to schedule your pick up appointment.

 Ramara Fire and Rescue Service staff worked diligently as a team of professionals to acquire Water Tanker Shuttle Accreditation. This accreditation ensures that Ramara Fire and Rescue Service can supply enough water to fight a major fire in an area that is not serviced by hydrants. Achieving this means that rural residents in non-hydrant areas of the Township may be eligible for a reduced rate on their home insurance. Check with your insurance company! A copy of the certification letter is available by clicking the link below or at the Township Administration office. If you require further information please contact Ramara Fire and Rescue Services at 705-484-5374, ext. 253.
